BJP Leader Condemns Pakistan-Backed Terrorism in J&K Attack

In response to a deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir that claimed seven lives, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kavinder Gupta strongly criticized what he called a cowardly act of terrorism sponsored by Pakistan. Gupta emphasized that the attackers targeted innocent civilians, referring to the incident as an attempt to destabilize the region and revive terrorism.

Cowardly Act of Terrorism in Ganderbal

Addressing the violent attack in Gagangir, Ganderbal district, where civilians were shot at, former Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Kavinder Gupta described the incident as a shameful act of cowardice. He accused Pakistan of being behind the act, stating that such terrorism was aimed at disrupting peace in Jammu and Kashmir. According to Gupta, many individuals from other states travel to Jammu and Kashmir for work, and targeting them is disgraceful.

He further added, “This attack is part of Pakistan’s strategy to sponsor terrorism in the region. Elections were recently conducted, and a positive atmosphere had emerged. Their goal is to ruin that progress by reintroducing fear and terrorism into the area. This is the second attack in just two or three days, which indicates the need for a fresh strategy. However, our security forces are doing an excellent job, and I believe the terrorists will be neutralized soon.”

Heightened Fear and Need for Vigilance

Kavinder Gupta also spoke about the growing fear among the local population due to the repeated terror incidents. He urged people to stay cautious and alert, stating, “Over the last few days, these attacks have been happening frequently. While the security forces are doing their part, it is important for the public to remain vigilant as well.”

Congress Leader Calls for Action

Congress leader Ravinder Sharma also expressed deep sorrow over the attack, labelling it a tragic and unfortunate event. He condemned the targeting of doctors and innocent civilians, urging the government to take swift action. Sharma stressed that the Jammu and Kashmir administration must ensure that such incidents are prevented in the future and that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

“This is a very unfortunate event. The fact that doctors and innocent people were attacked is unacceptable. Our security forces will undoubtedly respond to this aggression. With elections completed, it is now time for the Jammu and Kashmir government to take strict action and punish those responsible. I also pray for the quick recovery of those who were injured in this attack,” he added.

Details of the Attack

On Sunday evening, two labourers were killed in the terror attack in Gagangir, Ganderbal district, while several others were injured. When the attack occurred, these labourers were reportedly working on a significant infrastructure project in the region.

Omar Abdullah’s Condemnation

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah strongly condemned the attack. In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Abdullah called it a “dastardly and cowardly” assault on non-local workers. He expressed sadness over the loss of innocent lives and extended his condolences to the victims’ families.

“It is incredibly disheartening to hear about the horrific attack on non-local laborers in Gagangir, Sonamarg. These workers were contributing to a significant infrastructure project in the area. Two people have lost their lives, and two to three more have been injured in this militant attack. I strongly condemn this violence against unarmed civilians and send my heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims,” Abdullah said.

In the aftermath of the attack, political leaders have united in condemning the violence and have called for enhanced security measures to prevent future incidents.
