The new government in Haryana will now hold its oath-taking ceremony at Dussehra Ground, Sector-5, instead of the Parade Ground. Notably, it was at this very ground that Manohar Lal Khattar took his oath as Chief Minister in 2014 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This time, Nayab Singh Saini will take the oath for the Chief Minister position at the exact location. Dussehra Ground has the capacity to accommodate 50,000 people, and families of newly employed youths will also be invited to the event.
Oath Ceremony at Dussehra Ground
The oath-taking ceremony of Haryana’s newly elected government will no longer be held at Parade Ground. Instead, it will take place at Dussehra Ground in Sector 5. During the event, Nayab Singh Saini will be sworn in as Chief Minister along with other ministers. The significance of Dussehra Ground is notable since, in 2014, Manohar Lal Khattar also took the oath here in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On October 17th, the Prime Minister will again be present when Nayab Singh Saini takes his oath as the Chief Minister at the same venue.
Capacity for 50,000 Attendees
Initially, the BJP had chosen Parade Ground for the oath-taking ceremony. However, the location was changed due to its limited seating capacity. Dussehra Ground is being prepared to host approximately 50,000 people, ensuring a much larger audience can witness the event. This decision allows for a grander scale and more significant participation.
Families of Employed Youths to Attend
A unique aspect of this ceremony is the invitation extended to the families of 25,000 young individuals who have recently secured jobs. These families will be honoured guests at the event. Additionally, prominent leaders, key functionaries, and local representatives from all districts will also be invited. District heads and district in-charges have been tasked with ensuring the attendance of core party workers and dignitaries.
Dussehra Celebrations at the Venue
Just a few days before the oath-taking event, the Dussehra festival was celebrated on the same ground. The grand celebrations included cultural performances and the traditional burning of the effigy of Ravana. By 8 PM on Saturday, the Adarsh Ramlila Committee and Mata Mansa Devi Charitable Trust, who organized the event, began wrapping up the festivities. A fair that had been running on the ground for several days, complete with amusement rides and food stalls, was also part of the Dussehra celebrations. Though permission had been granted for the fair to continue for another ten days, it was cancelled to prepare for the upcoming political event.
Pruning of Trees for Security
Several trees surround Dussehra Ground, and pruning had been overdue. The local authorities have now taken the necessary steps to trim the trees, ensuring there are no security risks during the event. The fear is that thick branches could be used as hiding spots, leading to potential threats. Teams from the Municipal Corporation and the Haryana Urban Development Authority have been assigned the task of carrying out this work to enhance the security measures for the event.

Ample Parking Facilities Available
One of the practical advantages of holding the event at Dussehra Ground is the availability of parking space. The area around the ground, including markets in sectors 5, 8, 9, and 10, has ample parking facilities that can accommodate thousands of vehicles. For VIP guests, a designated parking area inside Dussehra Ground has been arranged to ensure that the event runs smoothly without any logistical issues related to vehicle management.
Conclusion
The decision to host the oath-taking ceremony at Dussehra Ground holds both symbolic and practical significance. It allows for a larger gathering, provides historical continuity with the 2014 event, and ensures that the ceremony can be enjoyed by a broad audience, including the families of newly employed youths. With security measures in place and adequate parking arrangements, the event is set to be a grand occasion for the state of Haryana.
