As tensions escalate, Manju Hooda, the chairperson of the Zila Parishad, is at risk of being arrested. A no-confidence motion against her will be introduced today, with a panchayat from six villages backing the move.
Advocate’s Allegations Against Manju Hooda and Her Husband
Advocate Jagbir Khatri, the husband of councillor Neelam, has accused Manju Hooda and her husband, Rajesh Sarkari, of being involved in a criminal act. Jagbir reported to the authorities that the couple orchestrated the crime. Despite this, the police have yet to take any action or arrest the accused, sparking further outrage among local residents and officials.
No-Confidence Motion Scheduled Against Manju Hooda
The no-confidence motion against Manju Hooda will be brought forward today at 11 AM at the District Development Building. This motion follows a series of events, including the alleged kidnapping of Neelam’s 15-year-old son, Dhairya, just two days prior, on Monday morning. Dhairya was reportedly abducted by unknown individuals but was released after three hours. However, the police have not yet apprehended those responsible for the kidnapping, fueling suspicions and frustration.
Panchayat and Councillors Meet with Authorities
On Tuesday, councillors from the village of Ismaila, along with other village leaders, met with Superintendent of Police (SP) Himanshu Garg to demand the arrest of Manju Hooda and her husband. They urged the police to take swift action, highlighting the severity of the situation. The SP has since assured the community that prompt steps will be taken. In response, the police have provided security to councillor Neelam’s family by stationing four officers at her residence to ensure their safety.
Kidnapping Incident Connected to Political Conflict
In a formal complaint, Ismaila resident Raunak Khatri stated that his aunt, councillor Neelam, had been involved in filing a request for a no-confidence motion against Manju Hooda. This political move seems to have triggered earlier threats, warning them to withdraw or avoid casting votes in the motion. On the day of the kidnapping, 15-year-old Dhairya had just dropped off his mother at home when he was abducted by four or five individuals driving a Thar vehicle. According to Raunak, the abduction was carried out on the orders of Manju Hooda and her husband, further intensifying tensions.

Panchayat Questions Police Inaction
A new panchayat meeting is scheduled for today to address the ongoing issue, with many questioning why the police have not yet interrogated or arrested Manju Hooda and her husband. Advocate Jagbir Khatri expressed his frustration, stating that the police were informed of the couple’s involvement on the day of the crime, yet no action has been taken. Despite two days passing since the kidnapping, the accused remains free. A panchayat gathering of six villages is set to convene at 9 AM in Ismaila village to discuss the situation, and the community has agreed to abide by whatever decision the panchayat makes regarding the course of action.
This complex mix of political tension, allegations of criminal activity, and local village involvement has put significant pressure on both the police and Manju Hooda as the situation continues to unfold.
